SDU, SNZ & NISSANZ members getting keen...there may be a couple of sub 12 second cars keen Greg!
like maybe a 9 second car...I think we should go the whole hog and have the safety crews regardless...over so many people it'd hardly send anyone broke and be great for the event to have some truly fast cars there, lending the event some 'cred. ;)

trying to talk the wife into racing the pulsar vzr, no response at this time, lol ! also how much extra does it cost to run the real timeslip machine ? not sure how the overall feeling is on that. say you were to beat your pb and you posted up a hand written timeslip, might not go over well with the online community, lol ! either way, just saying i dont mind paying the extra, was also hoping to use the day as a test n tune

ceaser, we should be having a member coming up with his computer and gear to print the slips out and we'll have anouther 5 member taking time and trap speed etc, i was trying to keep cost down so all the people that aren't the richest people around to be able to come.

Also any one got video cams my gf will be filming and i'll post up some drags but i'm wanting to make a full length dvd by adding it on to the other tack days

Hey guys - new to this forum, my name is Dayna and I am one of the events co-ordinators for SDU.

Our members are keen - but would prefer something at a later date, like i was thinking it was going to be.

nismo_nut  -  I have sent you a PM with more details.

GREAT IDEA look forward to it ;D :)
Title: Re: drag day numbers
Post by: P10PrimeraGal on 03 April, 2007, 09:06:16 AM
Greg, Joe and I will be keen with both our cars - BANISH P10 turbo and LITHE 2.2L P11

Re: timeslips - definitely think we should do it properly and use Champion's timing gear and printers etc.  With the number of people it looks like we should get the cost pp won't be too much more.  Ditto Andy's comments about credibility.

Also, IIRC you are not allowed any sub-12sec cars with the cheaper options.  Which would mean we might only race BANISH once on this day if all went to plan!  ;D
Title: Re: drag day numbers
Post by: JoeGT on 03 April, 2007, 09:19:14 AM

Yup def keen on racing both cars.. (have to try and hold on to the turbo and NA club records for as long as we can cos there are a lot of you that are going to make it interesting)

And I agree - seeing as it looks like we are going to have the numbers to justify it, we should look to go for the best timing gear, saftey options - cos if there are going to be some of the faster cars then we want them to be able to participate for the whole day. And I am sure that everyone wants to have "official" time slips for "Bragging" rights..

Ideal to have a bit of a cross section of the Nissan community there too.. I sure there will be a few challenges laid down :)

I was expecting this to be later in the year, i.e. springtime.  Could have a bit of difficulty getting it all organised in such a short timeframe, particularly if you want numbers ASAP.

Put me down as an entry, can help out when I'm not racing too.  I know a guy who may be able to sort an ambulance for us too.
Title: Re: drag day numbers
Post by: punkoutnz on 03 April, 2007, 11:04:56 AM
I actually think it could work in our favour if we have it on a shorter notice. That way people don't have time to lose interest before the day. I mean, you don't really have to have too much notice to get your car there, it's the organisation on our part which will be a rush but it's definitely doable!

You can put me down as confirmed
Title: Re: drag day numbers
Post by: evldan on 03 April, 2007, 02:58:26 PM
Well at 28 so far...that's $1680 (if $60 each)...plus I think $5 a spectator isn't steep, that way we could possibly get full track gear? (if they ever get back to you with prices!)
Title: Re: drag day numbers
Post by: madandy on 03 April, 2007, 03:36:49 PM
Think about a regular NSDW or whatever night when there are what, 150+ cars...I'd like to see at least 60-80 cars racing otherwise there's gonna be a lot of burnt out clutches/Auto trannies if people try to keep running without decent cool down periods...
Last I remember the 26th was stated as being the soonest available date yet  people stated that they'd prefer to do this on a Sunday...I don't mind personally but guarantee better attendance and inter-club rivalry if we consider the dates that suit others as well as ourselves.

The cheap option in fine for low numbers but I feel the cost per person with 60-70 participants would be so worth it to get the REAL timeslips, safty crew etc and some FAST cars running also...someone mentioned $5 for spectators? Who the hell is gonna pay to watch cars running between 12 &17 odd seconds?!

Title: Re: drag day numbers
Post by: BR4DY on 03 April, 2007, 03:37:32 PM
Whats the difference between what we currently have and the full track gear?
Title: Re: drag day numbers
Post by: evldan on 03 April, 2007, 03:54:50 PM
Fair enough, but at night speed there are about 100 cars too many! and they charge $15 to watch 17sec runs! (I'm pointing in your direction Winkie!  ;D )
But yeah you're right, a good number like 60-80 would probably do the trick..and maybe if numbers are quite low, then charge the viewers?....I'm sure Joe and his Primera collection will put on a good show to watch!  ;)
Title: Re: drag day numbers
Post by: punkoutnz on 03 April, 2007, 04:00:19 PM
Why dont we just charge the viewers 50 bux to watch and we can all race for free!!! :D:D

I have no life so chances are whenever you organise this, I'll be free to race :P
Title: Re: drag day numbers

Why dont we just charge the viewers 50 bux to watch and we can all race for free!!! :D:D
haha cause then no1 would view... but just say that they're going to race... pull up to the start line... pull of granny styles.... run a 20sec run... park up... watch the rest of the cars for free... haha

maybe you should rethink your plan?  Everyone who doesnt pay $50 gets blindfolded so they cant watch?  Including the drivers :D
Title: Re: drag day numbers
Post by: alexsc on 03 April, 2007, 04:45:08 PM
I reckon we should go for the full track setup as well.
Be good to have a lot of fast cars down there.

If we're struggling with the numbers....then we could invite non-nssans as well.
Cos I'm sure there will be heaps of mitsi boys keen to race

-  I agree with madandy, you guys should use the champion timing gear/printouts.  that would be an important part of the meet for me.

- for the money you cant beat the track time everyone would get, again like madandy was touching on, you could literally cook a clutch out there, if you dont take time to stuff your face with food, and car talk in between a batch of runs.

- i have a camcorder, and a decent camera i could bring as well.

- this could be the biggest drag meet of the year for Nissan fans !

man i should take days off work to organise lol 20 new emails  :o ok i will enquire about the full track price again cause she only guess, so now we need to look to get about 60 cars to make this event nice price for the average joe, she told me later we leave harder it is to getting spots and running into rain cause, aslo there are alot of v8s days and winter night wars etc.

so this month away track day is not to soon, but tell me what it clashes with

Hmmm 2 months to get my car ready for this.. might be able to do it - just  ::) Put me down for a definite though, if the car isn't ready then somebody else can take my place & I'll still pay the fee.

My workmate from the Silvia club said that we will get heaps of interest from there if we can also organise for the skid pad to be available - drifters, go figure.

Joe & Penny - I want your NA record, it just isn't right that you have the 2 fastest 'meras in the club. That's just greeeedy  ;)

make me a definate for that date, am hoping to be paid more by then, and maybe have something to show =P unless something goes horribly wrong =\

i don't mind the safety crew costs, i may run a 17, but i'd rather have them there if one of the quicker guys has a problem =\

Hehe awesome Clint... I sincerely hope you manage it.  It's the least your car can do for you!!   Will give us some incentive to get LITHE a decent exhaust and intake then too..

P.S. we don't have the two fastest.... just fastest N/A & fastest turbo  :P

So we extend the invitation to more clubs...
How bout some Honda's?
SDU will be busy with an event of their own...as Dayna said.
300ZX crew been informed?
How bout the pulsar group/GTi-R?
Toyspeed are bound to be keen
and the Mitis guru's as already stated
Mazda's? they missed their anual Nats due to rain - I'm sure there'd be a few keen to lay down some cooked chickens ;)

I'm a newbie here but I'd prefer it to be an all-Nissan affair if we can do it.

Between the Primeras, Pulsars, Maximas/Cefs, EXAS, Skylines, Silivas, Z's etc shouldn't we have enough?

Clint, you wouldnt happen to work with Olly would you?
And yes, lots of people on SNZ (including me) would like the burnout pad available if at all possible....

Yeah Olly & I work together and as you probably know, he's rebuilding his Silvia at the moment. Hopefully it lasts until the end of May... he killed it in 4 days last time  :D

As Olly would say - Gangsta!

Do you want sub 12 second cars?

My old beast is prob capable of beating its old PB nowadays and some other GTR colleagues have 11 sec cars already that would prob like to come along.

But if the hassle isnt worth it i'll just come down to spectate n help out if you like :)

Sorry Greg I'm confused - are we running the full timing gear or just the "club" gear?  Cause with the cheaper option you are not allowed sub-12 sec cars...
Title: Re: drag day numbers
Post by: NocaBiwik on 11 April, 2007, 10:41:49 AM
i think you can have sub 12 cars as long as theres an ambulance on site?
