Title: n15 rotors...
Post by: Rabbit on 10 June, 2010, 02:05:37 PM
Hey guys,

How do i know when i need to change mine? They have a small dip - what is the "legal" wear on them?

Really wish the slotted and drilled ones i brought for a sentra fitted - but they don't! GRRR.

Just brought some bendex brakes - hope they are good.

Thanks

I beleive new thickness is 26mm on the front and wear limit (after machining) is 24mm on the 257mm diameter rotors.

I have the autech front rotors(slotted ones from a GTI-R) with calipers and good pads. Had them on the track, and didn't have any brake fad at all. Upgraded to 280mm twin pots, so if you want them there yours for $250. Easy as to bolt on, and dont need a cert or anything like that...

was about to say dude a VZR has different brakes than a standard N15 ones.  The VZR's use the bigger RNN14 GTIR brake calipers and rotors.  I myself use Znoelli 12 slot GTIR rotors with Project Mu full circuit pads and they work REALLY well.

Biggest thing with brakes as some of us have found is that you need good airflow over them... so keep this in mind if going onto the track... something as simple as pulling the spot lights out helps it as Tim found out with Rusty (his Blue P10).

You could always do what i did if you have a spare, say 700 bucks? Twin pots from a w10, 280mmx28mm rotors from an r33 non turbo, bendix heavy duty's, and b15 hubs... Then if you have some more spare cash, get the braided lines to go with it... MMMMHHH, nice! Only shitty thing is that the rotors arent slotted... Would have cost about another 150, and taken aaagggeesss to get here!

True..hmm nah lol.

I might just get some stock rotors and put my braided hoses on this weekend.

I have some slotted and drilled dbs rotors for the front, but they are for sentra/pulsar stock (non vz-r) as the calipers are too big and don't quite fit on the rotor :(

Cost me $180 which was a good deal brand new for 2....oh well

can someone confirm for me if the rotors + calipers on a gtir are the same as an n15 vz-r?? (stock-stock)

Would S15 calipers fit? I suppose i am pretty limied if i wanna keep to 4*100 mags...

N15 VZR and RNN14 GTiR both run same pads and same rotors.

S15 calipers wont even come close to fitting.

I'm running DBA slotted rotors on my new car with mintex pads from race brakes. They were all off the shelf which was pretty sweet but the pads were a bit rough and didn't fit well without a bit of customising. They were also very fat (even the backing plate is a lot fatter) and couldn't fit with the anti squeal shims so they were left out, no squeeling though. Even the first stop when I bedded them in at the weekend I was impressed, now it feels like it wants to stand up on its front wheels. I got back into my old car and its brakes feel pathetic.

True lol - worth a shot

Same callipers then? (since same brake pads?) :)

I hope my brother buys the SR20DET on trademe for 6k 850hp beast that would be f--- awesome!

Not true... the S15 twin pots can be fitted if you change the rotors to the right sized ones and make an adaptor to mount the calipers... they are pretty much the same as the 35t skyline four pots i believe

quick question - are the vz-r's 247 or 257 mm fronts?

Why does the supercheap abd dba website have vzr listing as dba899 247mm rotor if the gtir rotor is 257mm?  That means gtir rotor is 10mm larger than vzr one? People say they fit??

Their listing is wrong. VZR rotors are 257x26mm, DBA part number is DBA901 - same as GTIR.

I have a vzr n15. I bought the gtir front rotors but supercheap has no part listing's for rear rotors. Now as mentioned vzr uses gtir front and rear rotors. Where can i buy the rear ones from?

The rear are the same as N15 Sentra/Pulsar SSS, with the SR20DE
