Title: Wellington Tuning weekend
Post by: R3SPCT on 10 May, 2013, 05:01:33 PM
I want to come down to Wellington soon to do recon for Nat meet, and to do some tuning while there.

Post up here if you are keen, have a few daughterboards in stock atm so can bring some with me if anyone wants a tune from scratch, or retunes to suit.

Was hoping for next weekend, but a few things got in the way of this, but def need to make it down.

Hey Darryl, I can't remember if I have talked to you about this but my car has a bit of an issue: on the odd occasion when I give it a boot-full in first gear it has a massive hesitation in power when it gets to 5.5-6K. My thinking is that when the high lobe is activated the A/F mix isn't bumping up quick enough so it's leaning out. I can't be certain because the revs pull so fast in first but I'm pretty sure it's happening when the Ex. cam kicks.
I have also noticed a bit of pinking under high load/low RPM.
Lastly, I was having a bit of fun in the rain one day and gave it a punch in first and the rev cut just didn't butt in (saw the needle hit 9K!)
Just wondering if you have any thoughts on these issues and think any could be sorted with a tweak of the tune?
Also looking at a bit of exhaust work soon in preparation for the 22 so I might as well make the most of it.

Sounds like a retune would be a good idea.

You can get the dizzy cap and rotor from repco or appco but I found Nissan was cheaper. You need a daughterboard to get the tune

Im getting closer and closer to a stage where I am willing to shell out a grand for a Nemu. Darryl; from what I understand you can get the software free with these online, then do you just need a USB to USB cable to plug a laptop into the ECU ? I want to run a MAP sensor with it aswell, I can't really image there being much benefit of the Temp sensor on an NA motor though, correct?

Thinking weekend of 21 to 23 june or 28 to 30 June.

Ive got a bunch of Nemu on order, dont want to come down too early as im not sure how long they will take to get here, and have some prep to do with them for makeing some base files before i come down.
