Drag Day Scoreboard-Thingy-Ma-Bob
« on: 29 June, 2007, 01:56:53 PM »
Hey Guys.

As most of you know Joe and I have been working on the excel spreadsheet to look after the drag day!  We're about 90% of the way there... and thought it'd be a good idea to post a link up for some of you IT people to have a look at, and make suggestions on how we can make it better.

A few things we already know about, and are currently working on are:

The Scoreboard:
- Fastest Speed
- Overall Winner
Both aren't working yet...

And the graphics will be a lot nicer to look at once all the backend code is done for it.

Here's the link:
http://www.bradydyer.com/nzpcc/trackday.xls

Check it out and post up here some ideas/suggestions/problems/errors/stuff about it :)

Suggestions made by other people:
None yet

How it's going to work on the day:
I will be up in the tower with my imac entering all the data into the said program.  The results will then be printed onto A5 pieces of paper (which will already have all the fancy graphics printed prior) the paper will be perforated so it can be ripped in half and given to each driver.
The data will then be sent wirelessly to a laptop set up on a projector somewhere displaying the leaderboard and the last race's data, for spectators/drivers to see :)

you guys should think about a job at NASA ! checking it out now !

looks good to me. not sure if it matters but maximas/cefiros are FWD, only the A31 Cefiro was RWD. again you might just have some jibberish in their to fill in the blanks. All the maxima/cefiros that show up will be A32's.

thanks for going into such detail, it will give us all something to look at and enjoy as a whole, and then in our specific car clubs/groups.

nice work !

How cheap? We need quite a bit... one page per race... cut down the middle for each lane... We've got money to buy the paper - so let me know how cheap we can get it lele :)

I worked out that I dont think we will do more than 500 runs

probably a max of 2 every minute (30 seconds to line up, start and finish the run before the next one starts)..

And then with stoppages, lunch etc I reckon we will be lucky to get 500 runs in total.. But at that price 2 reams can't hurt..

Ive gotta guillotine that can change the blade to a perforated edge... so that after they come out the printer they can just be ripped down the middle...

OR just leave the sharp edge, and once the thing prints, cut it down the middle...

i think just leave it the sharp edge to cut cos then you dont have to bother ripping it again.

Me printer won't accept anything smaller than A5 so we'll have to use the perforated sheet
Kieran: thank you for being amazing... Have my babies.
