sr20de head and manifolds onto sr18di?
« on: 23 November, 2006, 08:26:29 AM »
hi all, right well i really dont have much of a clue about sr20s or 18s for that matter but i have a p10 primera with a sr18di and was curious, would i be able to put a sr20de head and intake manifolds etc onto my sr18di to change it to multi point injection or would it be better to put on a sr18de head?would the 2l head be better than a 1.8de performance wise or not really? any help would be much appreciated!!!

SR18's came out as Multipoint.. You have to muck around with the loom for the injectors etc, but I can't see why not.. SR20 are a dime a dozen now adays anyway.. probably be less hassle just to chuck one of them in.

yea but isnt it much more of a hassle to change the whole engine than just the head?

No, Less... dont have to worry about getting a new head gasket, torque settings, time to take off the intake and exhaust manifolds etc etc..

you could easily drop and put another motor in in a day..

Thats the best time.. can bolt up the manual box while the motor is out..

Don't forget, you'll need another computer as well, the singlepoint computer can't work a multipoint system, obviously.  So you might as well get the entire loom to save screwing around with that.

Why not just cut your losses, and pick up a nice P10 TE or TS, save the hassle of changing engine/loom/gearbox, they are cheap enough now

sell the one you have and use what the engine conversion would cost to buy the Te.

SR18 has smaller bore and valves as well as shorter stroke. I dont think placing a SR20 head on it is a great idea...
old, fat & slow - not as slow as you though.

You can pick up a p10 TE quite cheap these days, the ones that need some VERY simple diy repairs are well under 2k  :)
