Whats the best option for front seat upgrade.. and the closest fit with minor modification.

If you have a FWD then either TEV or G-V seats.

they have shitty support though, I wouldn't recommend them as a performance upgrade. Do p10 seats fit? The p10 sports seats are heaps better than any p11 ones, and I reckon would be a bit better than a n14 sports seat too.

Alternatively people have been putting s15 seats in cars.

In the end I think I would have to recommend getting a proper race bucket seat, the cheap ones are ok. Im not sure of the process for certification though.

A pre-1999 TE-V or G-V seat has good support on the top half. Lower cushions are good on the TE-Vs and G-Vs that came out after 1999, I'm trying to put both together at the moment lol

Minor differences but they definitely have a different shape. There is a 2000 P11 wrecking in the north island with these seats http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing.aspx?id=800592686
