Yes, that's right! Our awesome club will be holding it's National Meet this year in
TAUPO!!The committee is stoked to announce that the club has booked the Taupo Motorsport Park for Saturday, 1 November!
We can all stay in the
DeBretts Resort - more details of packages will come soon.
The plan:
Meet in
Taupo on
Friday night,
hit the
track on
Saturday (8am-5pm),
have a
prizegiving dinner Saturday night,
some
fun activities on
Sunday morning,
then everyone to make their own way home when they please!
A bit more info about the track day:
It's a practice day. So emphasis is on lots of fun rather than fast times and racing. Basically just a great way to experience your awesome handling FWD Nissan in a safe environment.
Standard stuff applies: All cars on the track need to have a current Registration, a current Warrant (and be at a WoF-able standard) and a secured fire extinguisher within reach of the driver. Drivers must be in overalls and wearing a helmet and there must be no loose items in the cabin. There will be scrutineering to make sure everyone's safe out there

.
Passengers are allowed so long as they are attired the same as the driver.
The club as booked two garages so that there is somewhere to gather, put tools, wheels, jerry cans etc. If you'd like to book your own garage (either a group of people or by yourself) then they are $50 (PM me if you'd like to).
3 groups will run in a hour rotation scheme - with ~17 minutes of track time and a cool down lap.
At lunch time, we will hold a show 'n' shine to take a break from the track and showcase maybe more of the show in the club rather than the go

. It's normally a great time to socialise and check out everyone's cars.
A superlap competition will be held near the end of the day for those who are keen on setting a time

The cost of the track day entry fee is
$130. Paid Members from the South Island will have their entry fee paid for by the club to offset their travel costs.
The venue of the prizegiving dinner is Lone Star Taupo. We have booked an area upstairs and there will be a set menu on offer at $44 for a starter, main and desert.
http://www.lonestar.co.nz/_uploads/venue-info/set%20menu%202014.15%20web.pdfThere will be awards given out from the show 'n' shine, the track day and some fun ones too!
The club has booked the track so let's get some entries in ASAP and show some support for the club and come have some fun!
Please deposit your
$130 into the club account (
NZ Primera & Pulsar Car Club, 02-1244-0078132-000) with your forum username as the reference. Spots are
limited so secure your spot now!
Final date for payment is
17th October 2014 otherwise it will be
$150 cash on the day.
Don't be daunted at the prospect of a race track - it is in fact the safest way to enjoy your car, and the funnest!
This is the National Meet that I have been waiting for all year and I, personally, can't wait to see everyone and their cars in
99 days! See you all there!!

27 October Update:AWESOME guys!!! The 2014 National Meet in Taupo is less than a week away now!
Just a couple of housekeeping things:
- Darryl (r3spct) and Kieran (more_fasterer) have prepared an outline for the
scrutineering that they will be running at the track and other things that could be helpful to prepare for the actual track. Check it out
here. Basic idea from it is that your car should be
safe and that this is paramount for your safety and others. I hope everyone is going well preparing for the track day - the long weekend will be a God-send for some I bet!
- On the subject of the track day; we will be running a
SuperLap series for those that are interested in getting a proper time around Taupo. Everyone on the track is eligible to enter and will indicate this by simply turning up to when it is run. More details will be given on the day but it is similar to every other SuperLap process (one warm up lap, a flying start into the timed lap and then a cool down/get off the track lap). Times and winners will be announced at the prizegiving dinner after, so make sure you attend (more below).
- In the lunchtime interval there will be a
Show 'n' Shine run for those to show off cars and a vote cast on a few different categories;
Best Pulsar, Best Primera, Peoples' Choice, Best Other Nissan, Best Engine, Best Interior and
Best Wheels. Unfortunately, there will be no lunch facilities at the track so bring food and drink to avoid missing track time by driving to the shops. Pretty obvious to most but there is to be
no alcohol at the track, this is non negotiable and will not be tolerated.
- The
PrizeGiving will be held at Lonestar and we are to meet at 7pm with
dinner to follow. Please pay when ordering your meal and drinks as to avoid confusion and tears.
- Most people are staying at DeBrett's which have
hotpools available for a Sunday morning soaking - it would be a cool way to round out the weekend, sweat out a hangover and relax before going back to reality!
- Timing wise: most are planning on arriving
Friday late afternoon and evening depending on work commitments that day. I will be at DeBrett's around 5-6pm hopefully and most of the committee so come say hi then. For the track day, on
Saturday, the gates will open at 8am and we will finish up at 5pm with dinner at 7pm.
That's about all you need to know!
Checklist: Bring an appetite for fun,
a good attitude and,
lots of energy!!
For those of you umm-ing and ahh-ing - if it doesn't sound like you're missing out already; you're missing out! This is one of the main reasons I own a car, belong to an awesome club like this and why I work to make money to do these things. I have a final university exam the day before and the day after meet but I'll be there with my above checklist

See you all there!!
