New P12 owner, couple of questions.
« on: 16 December, 2010, 06:44:17 AM »
I just purchased a P12 wagon (2004) The model type shown is TDAAREZP12EDAF--B-. Could someone let me know exactly what I have?

There is an LED (For the alarm?) on top of the steering column but it does not flash if I use the key fob to lock the door (I presume this should activate the alarm). If I then  use the key to open the door a tinny audible alarm is heard only when the door is open. This alarm also stops when unlock is pressed on the fob. Is this all the alarm is?

Is it hard to get a second key fob?

Are there any obstacles to replacing the factory tape deck with an aftermarket Stereo. the existing one has Japanese radio frequency range and the tape is a mini disc player. Neither of which are much use to me.

Does someone have a diagram of the dashboard controls with a description of their functions that I can view there is a button and what looks like a little socket above and in front of my right knee. What are these?

Thanks in advance.

Germ.

i have a 2005 P12 and managed to download a how to to tune the jap settings to something workable.  depending on what version center console you have i have a FTP file i could email you with instructions.

i believe you cant replace the head unit as it controls most of the car... eg car probs wouldn't start if removed...

if you have the separate CD + SATNAV DVD player you can replace the CD player with a new stereo/head unit  but what i understand is the SATNAV DVD unit controls most of the center console.

Hi:Bit old I know!  That little light on the sterring column is the factory demobilizer. It should flash, check it at night after locking the car with the key remote. It may only flash far apart.
Sounds like you have a CD player with a MD under. I love my MD player, you can record up to 4 CD's on a MD so are good value if you are set up for MD. I think that can be removed but the DVD Rom cannot be as it is the brains of many functions of the car, ie A/C. Check about keys at a Nissan dealer, may depend if you have the ID tags with the key or not. That socket is probably for the Nissan dealer consult, they plug into that to diagnose your cars computer and check its settings, faults and performance.
the dash controls are not that complicated and there is plenty of english, too hard to explain here, easier to talk on phone.
PM me if you can and arrange a chat, I'll talk you thru I've owned 3!
That code means didly, sounds like a NZ code. Check under your drivers seat just above floor and you'll read a factory plate behind velcro. I assume you have a 2.0 litre CVT with the DE motor, probably a WTP12 20G model??
Being 2004 it will either be the 70th Edition (facelift) or it could be the original shape, both made till 12/2005.
Essentially very similar to NZ new but more toys!

Cheers, Tony

Hey Drogen, that's a very exciting proposition you're sharing with us!!

Let us know how it all works for you after you've tested it. Do you know the source?

Are you in Europe? If so, do you think this will work for the Japanese versions we have here in New Zealand?

I'm from Wellington (NZ), i posted on a a polish Nissan club forum (http://forum.nissanklub.pl) as they seemed to have heaps of helpful info, 1 guy replied saying he had the SATNAV English DVD, i've asked him for instructions and what the software does if the car already has Jap software loaded.

will wait for his response.

taking the burned DVD to a car yard is an excellent idea... hahahahahah

 ;D

One difference of note is they are talking about their European assembled P12s (built in Britain as per NZ after 2006 models available) not those built for Japanese domestic market. Difference being Europe has various languages in use and the sat nav installed may accomodate such software. Question is, does the japanese model built for JDM? Suggest probably not?!?
