February 2010 – Brent (p10crazy)
.

.
Nestled deep in the heart of west auckland is a young man with a deep passion for P10's.  I first met him some 4 years ago when I sold a GTiR head to him on trademe.  It was impressive to see Brent taking on his own T4 project at a relatively young age, although I have since wondered about his use of cinder blocks or mag wheels under his axle stands Tongue
I look forward to seeing how his project continues to progress... in the meantime, lets see where he's at now:

NZPCC: When and why did you first get your Primera?

Brent: I first got my first Primera when I was at school and wanted something nicer to drive than a broken down old Toyota Starlet, first wanted something newer and was looking at P11’s but then my friends sister had a 93 Manual 1.8L Primera for sale. It was very tidy and I took it for a test drive and brought it on the spot.

Soon after owning the 1.8L I realised I wanted to get a 2nd Primera as a project, for a turbo build up so I found a nice 92 T4 Primera.

NZPCC:  And what were your original plans for your Primera and have they changed?

Brent: Original plans for the 1.8L where just to lower it and get some 17’s plus sounds. Basically to make the 1.8L a nice cruiser.

Plans for the T4 were basically to make a GTi-R T4 which included doing a full rebuild on a GTI-R engine.

Plans changed for this car slightly when Joe and Penny put the old Banish shell up for sale, I figured I could save myself a lot of money on cosmetic things buying this shell rather than painting and shaving locks, etc on my current T4.

NZPCC:  What performance modifications have you made to your cars?

Brent: I have done a GTi-R engine and drivline conversion, full 3” exhaust, forged JE pistons, 550cc injectors, Z32 maf, Steel 4.5kg Nismo flywheel, heavy duty clutch, 4 pot brake conversion, Brembo cross drilled front rotors, BC coilover suspenision, front and rear strut braces, alloy radiator (50mm core), front mount and 2.5”piping, short shifter, electronic boost controler, braided brake lines.

NZPCC: What mods have you made to the exterior/interior?

Brent: Quite a few of the exterior mods came on the shell I purchased from Joe and Penny such as black with blue metallic paint job, shaved locks and aerial, custom front bumper, 35% tints and UKDM clear tail lights. I have since added a Nismo grill and 17” ROH mags.

NZPCC:  What do you love best about your Primera?

Brent:  That it’s different having a 4x4 turbo Primera rather than just being another evo, wrx, etc driver.

NZPCC:  Any future modifications planned that we should know about?

Brent:  New set of rims soon hopefully and in the long term I would like to look more closely at what’s involved with fitting a VE head to a GTi-R engine.

NZPCC:  If money was no object what would you do to your Primera?

Brent: Build a fully forged SR22VET and chuck it in my T4 mated to a beefed up gearbox with a bullet proof gear set.

NZPCC:  Do you have any performance figures, 1/4 mile times or lap times?

Brent:  Unfortunately not at the moment, but hope to in the near future.

NZPCC:  What’s your favourite food and drink?

Brent: Have to be a burger and chips, a Red Bull and Vodka is always good.

NZPCC:  Favourite television programme?

Brent: Don’t watch TV a lot but Family Guy is great.

NZPCC:  Are you married, have a partner or are you single and looking?

Brent:  Single

NZPCC:  What sort of cars have you owned in the past?

Brent:  89 Toyota Starlet, a few P10 Primera’s, and a R32 Skyline

NZPCC:  What is your favourite road to drive?

Brent:  Scenic Drive, Waitakere

NZPCC:  Do you prefer show, street, circuit or drag?

Brent:  Street but do want to give the drags a go in the near future.

NZPCC:  P10, P11 or P12?

Brent:  P10

NZPCC:  How’d you find out about NZPCC & how has it benefited you?

Brent:  Did a quick Google search for some info on my first P10 and found NZPCC. It has been a great resource of information and I have met some great people through the club.

NZPCC:  Any last comments you would like to make?

Brent:  Thanks for all the help I have received from members in the club. It’s a great club and I have made some good friends through the club.
