Help needed - Swapping P11 Primera facelift A/C controls
« on: 21 January, 2019, 09:40:10 PM »
Hi there!

I recently picked up a P11 Primera Facelift, came with an SR20VE and CVT gearbox.

I got a mad deal, but unfortunately there's a big issue...

It came with this huge, heavy, touch screen A/C control thing with a broken screen. Also, one of the temperature control buttons is gone, so I have to pull it out and swap it between the buttons if I want to go warmer or cooler.

I am wanting to swap it for the usual digital A/C controls that came with the facelifts, but the wires are all different colours.

Is someone able to help with this? I've already messed around with it and blew one fuse, don't really want to blow another...

What I have:

What I would like in my car:

I tried this back in the day, blew up the dash loom, even swapped the entire dash & loom over, didn't go well.
All I can say is good luck, & I hope you have more success than I did.

See the link below:

It has to translated, so looks like a job for the weekend. :D

This is some great information! I've been wanting to do this to my sisters TE-V since she got it. (It's her only complaint about the car!) But I did notice his one looks slightly different to yours? Some of the buttons are different and your's has a Hazard switch and the one in the guide doesn't? Might pay to double check the wiring is the same between them.

Hi Adam-Eye,

The Ac controls only came with the increase temp button! I managed to turn it all the way up to 30c, literally turning my car into an oven.

I ripped it out and stuck it in the cold button hole to turn it down. Ended up just switching all of it off, too much of a process.

See below for the Russian guys unit:

Ahh, you're right! It was a bit late when I read this last night. I must've been half asleep. Great stuff I can't wait to do this conversion myself.

So after all of that time researching how to do this I kinda gave up on following the pin guide.

See, there's a little box behind the dash and down a bit. I think this is the master controls for the AC.
All of the wires lined up etc, so I just kinda grabbed some heatshrink and pulled the wires out of the 3 plugs and wired the AC in.

I started with the smaller plug on the new unit and compared wires with the plugs on the old master control box. I used the master control box plug with the most similar wires, and kind of transplanted them.
After I ran out, I started on the bigger plug on the new unit.
Once they all ran out then it was a case of matching the colours until all of the wires were used on the new unit plug.

You'll have a black and red cable spare, grab these from the old tv unit plug, see in pic below.

Aaaaaaand it works! Although the AC doesn't kick in until 19 degrees, warm from 20 onwards, even with AC on. (Fault of my car?)

The fault you're describing is usually because the ambient temperature sensor which sits just behind the front bumper is unplugged or faulty. Is there one plugged in (it's usually around where the horns are) or maybe that part of the wiring is wrong?
